About me
My name is Maria
I am a certified psychologist and trauma therapist with more than 15 years of experience. I am also a mother of an adult son and a happy wife.
Now I mostly live in Norway.
I work in EMDR, DBT (DBT PTSD), schema therapy, family therapy, both individual and group, online and face-to-face. I regularly take an active part in international trainings, seminars and conferences.
I tenderly love my profession of psychologist and do not cease to learn, teach, and share my experience with colleagues. On a daily basis I work with the consequences of psychological trauma. I will help you integrate the memories so that they no longer affect your life.
In therapy, each client will be provided with acceptance, support, attention.
The methods I work with:

EMDR is a method in which eye movements and other bilateral stimulation are used to process unpleasant and traumatic memories. Such memories can latch on in such a way that they continue to trigger unpleasant emotional reactions. we can understand it so that they are stored in the working memory, and we can react almost as if the event is happening now. even if you know that you are no longer in danger, that you are good enough or that you will manage, feelings are not part of it.
With EMDR, we focus on the difficult experience while using this stimulation to disrupt your brain so that you get a chance to reprocess the memory, like a reboot of sorts. This brings information from the brain in such a way that it provides a better and faster processing of thoughts and feelings than if we just talk about it.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing) is a psychotherapy method originally developed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. It successfully copes both with the consequences of traumatic events such as: depression, anxiety, phobias, acute grief, somatic disorders, addictions, etc., and in crisis situations, is used in the work of EMDR.
In 2013, the World Health Organization officially recommended EMDR as the most effective therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder. To date, only two methods are included in the WHO registry that has undergone clinical trials and has an evidence base, and one of them is EMDR. There are also studies confirming that this method works on a par with serious medication like antidepressants and others.(https://scholar.google.ru/scholar?hl=ru&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=emdr+meta+analysis&oq=EMDR+)

Thanks to these scientific studies proving efficacy, the therapy is quickly gaining popularity. About a couple of years ago, Prince Harry chose this method for..... watch a video of how the session goes.

In May 2022, EMDR was invited by Pope Francis (through his office) to attend one of his audiences. The Pope had heard about EMDR therapy from some church witnesses. He had previously been aware of its effectiveness in the fields of sexual violence and mass disasters, mainly those where the association has integrated itself into humanitarian programs. Pope Francis invited the Italian association EMDR to a private meeting to learn directly about the method itself.
How does EMDR therapy work?
EMDR is an integrative therapy based on bilateral stimulation.
The brain is affected through the visual, auditory and somatic channels.
Bilateral stimulation not only reduces the intensity of negative effects, but also triggers the blocked (e.g. due to psychological trauma) natural process of information processing, and at an accelerated pace.

Flash Technique in EMDR
The author of the Flash Technique, Philip Manfield, believes that the technique is based on a neurological phenomenon and if used correctly, it always works.⠀If the technique does not work, it means that there are special obstacles that can be removed, the main thing to understand the cause. And those who are trained by the founder of the method Philip Mandfield and successfully pass the exams - know exactly what to do.
Blind Protocol or EMDR for men
Why do women turn to psychologists so much more often? Does it turn out that psychological services are only needed by women? Or is it possible that over the years there has been a format for psychologists of all stripes that is of little use to men?Negative beliefs that influence men to seek help from psychologists:- Going to a psychologist and talking about my problems means admitting to myself and others that I can't cope on my own- To talk about trauma, about childhood abuse - to show yourself helpless and weak.- Real men do not cry or complain and must hold their emotions to the last moment.- There is information that is dangerous to tell, revealing it could hurt me. EMDR therapy is a method that meets all of these needs. When it is possible not to talk about memories and problems, so that the psychologist does not even know what event it is about. In EMDR therapy there is a "blind therapist protocol" which was originally used with the military because they are not allowed to share information.
Research has shown that in EMDR it is possible to help clients process traumatic material without knowing much about what actually happened or what the person is thinking about during processing, but only by checking the condition before and after. Thus, secrecy or the ability to keep information to oneself is acceptable when working with the emdr method. This is something that cannot be done with other methods.
What problems does the method work with?

We need to be well aware of the fact that 99.9% of our thoughts, are automatic.
It is a perfect illusion that we are capable of being aware of the processes going on in our brains. Basically, our brain works like our liver. Do you know what your liver is currently doing? No? And it's wonderful that you don't! Otherwise, we would need another brain to watch and be aware of what our other brain or liver is doing, which is a huge waste of energy. However, at times we do have the ability to be aware of what we are thinking. And this is the way to begin to control our behavior, thinking and feeling.
There is a very important phrase in Zen philosophy that goes something like this: "Freedom is not to do what you want to do.(Read - what your brain tells you to do).
I train patients to use their brains to observe themselves and train them to make their brains work the way they like.
And now the $1 million question. So how do you teach all of this? The answer is Marsha M. Linehan and Martin Bohus' treatment programs. It's a huge blessing to learn from the best, the creators of the DPT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) method. The therapy was originally created for people who suffer unimaginable emotional pain and resort to desperate behaviors in the way of suffering. It was vital to create a therapy that would help people find lasting meaning and value in their lives. Today, DPT is extremely effective in helping people with suicidal thoughts stay alive. Over the past few decades, numerous studies have shown that DPT and PTSD DPT are highly effective for people:
- With borderline personality disorder - With substance dependencies- Post-traumatic stress disorder- eating disorders
How long will therapy take? About 45 sessions total.
We already have an exciting DPT program that will be used and is already being used in schoolsWe also have a program in development for people with cancer.
DBT treatment has these main goals:
